Nonlinear-optical frequency conversion of femtosecond Ti : sapphire laser radiation in the stochastic quasi-phase-matching

Nonlinear-optical frequency conversion of femtosecond laser radiation under random quasi-phase-matching and Cerenkov nonlinear diffraction in irregular domain structures of strontium tetraborate is studied. The theoretical approaches describing second harmonic generation in periodic domain structures are generalized to the case of random nonlinear structures. In the case of random quasi-phase-matching, the measured angular dependences of spectral intensity are interpreted as random Maker fringes appearing as the second harmonic oscillations in a nonlinear medium. The calculated angular dependences of second harmonic spectral intensity are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental data (Fig. 1_1) [1].
